Player Spotlight: Matías Perrone

Born in San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Matías Perrone worked in real estate and played amateur football before discovering footgolf in 2013. He turned professional just two years later, in 2015 — the same year he won his first Argentine national championship.

A Dominant Run at Home

Perrone went on to win the Argentine FootGolf Championship four years running: 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 — a level of domestic dominance that set up his breakthrough on the world stage.

World Champion

In 2018, Perrone won the FIFG FootGolf World Cup individual title in Marrakech, Morocco, and helped Argentina claim the team title in the same event. It capped a run that had already seen Argentina finish third at the 2016 World Cup on home soil in Buenos Aires.

A Rivalry With the World Number One

Perrone's results have repeatedly crossed paths with England's Ben Clarke — most notably finishing runner-up to Clarke at the 2019 Argentinian Open, beaten by five shots at 20-under-par. He returned to World Cup competition again in 2023 in Orlando, Florida, continuing to represent Argentina on the sport's biggest stage.
